Hard Deck Logistics has been following a freight train derailment that occurred this past Saturday after ten railcars plunged into the Yellowstone River in Montana when reportedly a bridge collapsed. Sixteen cars derailed in total, while ten went into the river. Six cars carrying hot asphalt, three holding molten sulfur, including one with scrap metal, remained in the water through some point on Monday. This incident occurred about 40 miles west of Billings, MT.
The cause of the bridge collapse is under investigation but many are pointing to the now common talk in the train/government transportation circuits around transportation infrastructure safety throughout our nation.
This derailment comes just over four months after the incident that many remember when a freight train derailed near East Palestine, Ohio, which caused hazardous materials to burn and explode.
A rush of congressional activity and legislation has since been introduced to try to strengthen the overall inspection/safety process and to strengthen rail line accountability factors pertaining to train safety including future mitigation of such derailment potential.
Hard Deck Logistics will continue to follow this story and keep our readers updated.
Sincerely,
CEO Hard Deck Logistics
