Hard Deck Logistics is following Tropical Storm Idalia, as is expected to turn into a hurricane before hitting the western part of Florida (panhandle). This storm could grow into a category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 120-150mph with a possible 12-foot storm surge, including substantial flooding risk for Western Florida and Southern Georgia.
A combination of tropical storm warnings and hurricane warnings have been issued for parts of Florida and Southeast Georgia.
Meanwhile, Hard Deck Logistics is following that Tropical Storm Franklin is in play several hundred miles off the coast of the Eastern USA however the convergence of these two weather events as well as the rain/wind/currents produced by these two weather systems could cause concern in regards to vessel traffic, port delays, and disruption at some level to supply chains.
As of now, Tropical Storm Idalia has generated US Coast Guard port condition X-Ray for Jacksonville Port and port condition Yankee for Tampa Port. Port of Miami as of now is under normal port conditions. These statuses are explained below.
- X-Ray: Gale force winds are expected within 48 hours. The rules are similar to port condition Whiskey.
- Yankee: Gale force winds predicted within 24 hours. Vessels seeking to depart must arrange immediate departure. Cargo operations must cease with 18 kilometer per hour (kph) winds. Transfer hoses must be disconnected with 22 kph winds. Ships seeking to arrive in port should seek an alternate destination.
