What makes TransmetriQ different from other rail visibility and TMS providers?

We developed our TMS for rail, RMS, in partnership with shippers who manage rail operations day in and day out. We asked: What features would make your day-to-day easier?  Then, we developed those exact features.

We’re Powered by Railinc, the industry repository for rail movement data, equipment health insights, industry reference files (IRFs), and more. Railinc integration means shippers experience near-real time, 24/7 shipment visibility, and more accurate data (e.g. bills of lading, SPLC codes, and more).

Our mission is to enable shippers to make smarter decisions when shipping by rail. As part of that, we’ve partnered with the Commtrex Managed Logistics team, giving our TMS users the option to leverage an experienced team in addition to our TMS.

 

What are you seeing in the market?

We’re seeing an increased need for more granular, actionable visibility. In the world of rail, near-real-time visibility is critical. If a shipper isn’t receiving consistent updates, they’re likely experiencing supply chain blind spots. This means shippers are unable to efficiently plan crews, understand ETAs, and ultimately, plan operations.

Not only is granular visibility needed in terms of location, but also railcar health. Exceptions can drastically affect a supply chain, but optimal visibility enables a shipper to react to exceptions and ensure railcar availability.

 

Are there any new projects or developments that TransmetriQ is working on now?

Always! Right now, we’re doing a lot of work with artificial intelligence (AI). Currently, we can provide alerts when an ETA changes or a shipment meets exception conditions. Leveraging our wealth of historical rail data, we’re applying sequence modeling to predict when certain exceptions are likely. Put simply, AI enables us to suggest what disruptions might occur before they even happen—giving shippers a chance to react.

 

Is there something you would like to share with our members that people may not know about TransmetriQ?

We’re a team of Railinc rail experts and data scientists. Our platforms don’t provide raw visibility data, they automate repetitive tasks and provide deeper, more usable insights.

Combining our complete rail event data visibility with Commtrex’s transload site visibility, we’re able to provide a complete picture of rail operations that shippers can’t get anywhere else.
