- Mansfield Railport, located in Mansfield OH, offers a total logistics package to customers with the support of affiliated companies, Ashland Railway(ASRY) and Skye Trucking. We offer a full range of rail to truck and truck to rail transloading, warehousing, inside and outside storage, and trucking services. We pride ourselves on a high level of customer satisfaction by working in partnership with our customers to meet their specific needs.
What are you seeing in the market? When do you see markets coming back?
- We continue to see strong demand for transloading in a variety of markets due to the supply chain challenges that shippers have faced since early 2020. In addition, we believe that the trucking shortage has resulted in companies looking at rail transportation with transloading at our warehouse as an alternative for getting product to their customers. We expect the need for our transloading services to continue to be strong in 2022.
Are there any new projects or developments that Mansfield Railport is working on now?
- Mansfield Railport completed a track expansion in April 2019 which added 7 railcar spots to our outside transloading yard and improved truck access. We have invested in equipment as required for new business opportunities including purchasing a Model 4255 RBT Conveyor in 2018 and a Doosan DL 300 front-end loader with pipe clamps in 2017. We will continue to make investments as needed for new business opportunities.
- Ashland Railway completed a rail yard expansion project in 2021, adding 3,000 ft. of track to our Mansfield, OH rail yard, significantly adding to our capacity. In addition, the project included the installation of flow detection equipment on our railroad, enhancing safety through the identification of defective rail that must be replaced. This project allows Ashland Railway to handle growth at Mansfield Railport and to improve our service capabilities.
What is Mansfield Railport currently doing in transloading?
- We have experience transloading a variety of commodities including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, animal feed products, forest products, and other commodities both inside our 50,000 sq. ft. warehouse and outside in our storage yard. Mansfield Railport has the capability to transload covered hoppers, boxcars, centerbeams, and flatcars. We are always looking for new opportunities and will work closely with customers to meet their specific requirements for handling, storing, and delivering their product.
Is there something you would like to share with our members that people may not know about your company?
- Mansfield Railport was constructed in 2005 and is equipped with two 40-ton semi-automated custom-built Demag Cranes with Bushman Coil Grabs. In addition, we operate heavy and light-duty forklifts to transload a variety of commodities for our customers. Since 2005, we have transformed Mansfield Railport into a transload facility and warehouse that can handle a variety of commodities.
