What can we do to help relationships with Class I Railroads? (Mike Kershaw)

Mike Kershaw (1)

One way to endear yourself to Class I Railroads, as with all companies, is to improve their revenue. Some ideas are as follows:

  • Convert truck traffic to rail traffic. This can be accomplished by utilizing origin and destination transloads instead of long haul trucks that are already hurting due to lack of drivers and negatively impacting greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Help railroads reduce empty car moves. This can also be accomplished with origin and destination transloads.

  • Empty cars on origin carrier line transload and reload on trucks or railcars beyond.

If you have questions about how to set up a transload or how to use transloads to your and the Class I Railroad’s advantage, contact me at mekershaw@comcast.net.
